Book Review: The Hunger Games

I am reading this set of books right now that is so awesome I had to share it with you.  BUT BE WARNED- they are super addictive.  My sister read them and described them to me and I was a little skeptical at first.  But, I took her word for it and got the first one and have been hooked ever sense! I just started the third book in the trilogy.  These books are such an easy read- I have read each in about 2 days. ( traveling has contributed to that too)

Here is the synopsis of the first book from Barnes and Noble:
Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

Ok, ok.. I know it sounds weird but take my word for it... they are REALLY good.  I think that they should make a movie from them.  If you are looking for a book that's thrilling and holds your attention.. this is it.

I am going to Atlanta to meet my boyfriend this weekend but I hope that I can find time to get a little reading in :)  I will let everyone know how the Northface Endurance Challenge goes.  Cross your fingers for me.. I'll need it!!

Have a good weekend,
Letty :)

Outfit Inspirations

Hello!! I hope everybody is having a good week! We had Fall Break yesterday and Monday so this is a short week for me!! On my agenda this week..  get ready for the trail run I am doing this Sunday with Adam.  I am really nervous about it.

It is a pretty drab day here.. really foggy and rainy.  So, I decided to brighten up my day with some fabulous outfit ideas.  Here goes..
I love the lace underneath these aviator jackets.  Of course, these are runway looks but you can find these pieces at affordable prices.

Here is a Free People lace shift dress that is more affordable.  I also just got a lace dress from target that was only $21.  I can't wait to wear it.. it's that cute green color that I love!

I like this aviator jacket from Express and it is fairly affordable at $148.

This outfit from Free People goes along with the same idea but in a different way.  They paired a tough leather jacket with a floral skirt.  I love the way this looks. The high waisted maxi skirt with the jacket and the turquoise necklace.. perfection.

While I was browsing around for an outfit inspiration, I came across this top. I LOVE IT!!! Might have to start saving up for this one...

That's all for now!! I am thinking of doing a giveaway soon and there will be another tutorial coming up soon.. so check back!

Have a wonderful day all,
Letty :)

Scarf Tutorial From Old T Shirt

Hey guys!

I found this cool scarf tutorial in Glamour magazine a while back and have been meaning to try it and last night... I finally did! They got it from the book, P.S. I Made This... by Erica Nomesek.  I bet the whole book is good... may have to check that out! Anyways, the whole process takes about 15 minutes.  Super Easy.

First you find a t-shirt that you don't wear anymore.  I used a long sleeve one that had gotten a whole in it. Next, you just cut it straight across from arm hole to arm hole and throw away the top half.  I kept mine for scrap fabric though.. you never know :)

Now, you take the unhemmed side and begin cutting strips about every half inch to create fringe. Cut strips all the way around.  I cut about half way up.. but really you can make them as long or short as you like.

That's it!! Voila!!  A hip new scarf out of an old ratty t shirt. This is perfect for fall because it's not a warm scarf.. just a cutsie one :)

Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend everybody !

WAY BEHIND

Hey everyone!!

I am so behind on my blogging!  Today is catch up day :)  My sister and I did great in the race this weekend in Atlanta.  It was a wonderful weekend.  We did some shopping(all day actually) and I got some new items that incorporate the fall trends(yay!!).
Up before the sun to run in the race.
Now, to finish up those fall trends.  Camel is a huge one.  I happen to love this trend. It is everywhere and there are countless ways to incorporate this into your wardrobe.  The best way in my opinion... a camel colored coat.  The thing that I love about this trend is that it won't go out of style.  You can wear a camel colored coat for years to come.

All of these items are from Top Shop.  Click on the item to go to the link.  There is an abundance of camel items out there- shoes, bags, coats, sweaters, skirts, scarves you name it.  Top Shop has a huge selection to choose from.

Another fall trend that I love- Clogs.  There is one pair that I have had my eye on for a while.

Maxi skirts are transitioning into wardrobes this fall also.  You have to make sure it's not a summery one though. I love maxi skirts because I love the bohemian feel but this trend won't be for everyone.

I love this plaid one. I also love the way they have it styled.

A plain skirt is also a good way to go. This one from Forever 21 is very affordable and can be worn in tons of ways.

Over the knee socks are a trend that I have been seeing EVERYWHERE.  You can't walk through a mall or look in a fashion magazine without seeing them.  I personally won't be adopting this trend but to each his own, right?  I think it looks precious on some people(like this model below), but on me this would be terrible.

That pretty much wraps up my thoughts on the trends for fall.  Most of these I have already added to my wardrobe!  The weather has been cooler here the past week so I have even been able to start wearing some of them! Boots weather is here.. woohoo!!
Have a good rest of the week!!

Custom Order Finished!

Hello everybody!

So, I know I am a little late on my trends posts.  I am running a little behind getting ready for my weekend trip(yay!) and finishing this custom order.   I PROMISE to post about two wonderfully beautiful trends tonight..  Here it is finished.

I really like the way they turned out!  I have decided to relist these and let people custom order them in the size, color and quantity of their choice.  Got to do that tonight too.. right now, I am off to class!

Have a good rest of the day!
